Beaches
Your new home is just minutes away from some of Hawaii's most pristine beaches. Wake up to the sound of ocean waves and spend your days lounging on soft white sand. Waikiki Beach, world-renowned for its gentle waves and vibrant atmosphere, is less than a 10-minute walk from your front door.
Though described collectively as "Waikīkī Beach" to the world, locals break down the area into many sections, each offering a little different vibe, activities, and accessibility. Together these beaches span 2 miles (3.2 km), and they are flanked by Magic Island and the Ala Manoa Beach Park on the northwestern side and the Diamond Head State Monument on the southeastern side.
The seven Waikiki beaches are:
- Kahanamoku Beach/Hilton Hawaiian Village
- Fort Derussy
- Royal Hawaiian Beach
- Kūhiō Beach
- Queen's Beach
- Sans Souci Beach
- Kaimana Beach
Magic Island and Ala Moana Beach Park offer additional recreational opportunities, including calm lagoons for swimming and picnic areas perfect for family outings.
If you have a car, our favorite beach is actually Kailua Beach on the west side of the island. Soft sand, warmer water, and a more relaxed atmosphere make it a perfect day trip destination. If you go, stop by Halewia Joe's for dinner (they open at 4:00p.m.).
Shopping
Shopping enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise with numerous options within easy reach. The Royal Hawaiian Center offers luxury brands and local boutiques, while the International Market Place provides a unique open-air shopping experience with over 75 shops and restaurants. A 10 minute bus ride or a 25 minute walk will get you to the Ala Moana Mall, the mecca of shopping for many internaltional travelers.
Don't miss the weekly farmers markets where you can sample fresh tropical fruits, local honey, and handcrafted souvenirs. The KCC Saturday Farmers Market (Saturday's 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.) is particularly popular, featuring the best of Hawaii's local produce and artisanal goods. For everyday necessities, several grocery stores and pharmacies are conveniently located within a few blocks.
Restaurants
The culinary scene is nothing short of spectacular. From casual beachside cafes to award-winning fine dining establishments, you'll discover flavors that capture the essence of Hawaii. Start your day with fresh açai bowls and Kona coffee at nearby breakfast spots.
For lunch, try the famous garlic shrimp trucks or visit one of the many poke shops for fresh, locally-caught fish. Evening dining options include upscale restaurants featuring Pacific Rim cuisine, traditional luau experiences, and rooftop bars with stunning sunset views.
Transportation
Getting around is convenient and stress-free with multiple transportation options available. The city bus system provides affordable access ($3.00) to all major attractions, beaches, and shopping areas. Bus stops are located within a two-minute walk from the property, with routes running frequently throughout the day.
For more flexibility, bike rentals and scooter shares are readily available nearby. Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft operate throughout the area with quick pickup times. If you prefer to rent a car, several agencies are located within a few miles, though many guests find they can easily explore the area without one. The nearby trolley system offers a fun, tourist-friendly way to see the sights while avoiding parking hassles.
